Middle School Youth Club - Grades 6 thru 8 meet from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Crows' Nest. Activities include Game Time, Lesson Time and Gutter Time (snacks are served in a 10 foot rain gutter). This group does not meet every week. Please see the church calendar for specific times and activities.

Youth Music Opportunities

There are several groups for our youth to participate in sharing musical praise, as well as a opportunity to do outreach and travel:

Mission FAITH - Wekiva's Youth Choir directed by Betsy Bone, our Minister of Music. They practice on Sunday during the break between Middle School and Senior High Youth Club; 5:00 - 6:00 PM

Montreat Worship and Music Conference - The Music Department hosts an annual summer trip to Montreat, N.C. to the Worship and Music conference sponsored by the Presbyterian Association of Musicians. It is an intergenerational conference that focuses on providing opportunities to sing, ring, or play with top notch directors from around the US, learn about liturgical drama and movement, world percussion, liturgical art (fabric, paper, etc.), and much more, all while being involved in daily worship where all these aspects are joined together. Evenings are filled with talent show, mixers and 'the barn', ice cream at The Huckleberry, and more. This trip is combined with a stopover in South Carolina for the conferees to do outreach by sharing our talents during worship or by providing a worship experience with a church, retirement home, or Long Term Care facility. For more information contact, Betsy Bone, our Minister of Music.

Senior High Youth Club - Grades 9 through 12 meet from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Crosswalk. Activities include Game Time, Hang out Time, Lesson Time (led by members of the group) and Gutter Time (snacks are served in a 10 foot rain gutter).

Youth Activities

Our youth at Wekiva have the opportunity to participate in many activities. Some of the programs available are:

Middle School Mission Weekend - The middle school youth spend the night at the church and then spend the day doing volunteer work in the community.

Yearly Mission Trip - Each year our senior high youth spend 8 days involved in mission work. They travel to places within the United States doing God's work. The annual mission trip serves a threefold purpose: to reach out and do God's work, to strengthen friendships within the group, and to help each member grow in their personal relationship with God. The trip is usually the last week in May or the first week in June. Students spend most of the year working and preparing for this life-changing experience.

Easter Sunrise Service - Youth lead all aspects of this service at 6:30 AM Easter morning under the campanile. The youth participate in ushering, liturgy, music, and the sermons are given by the seniors.

Live Nativity - Senior high and middle school youth participate in this Christmas tradition. On December 21, 22, and 23 students become the characters in the manger scene. This is a motionless nativity that is done to narration. A great community outreach service.

Christmas Family - Each year the senior high group adopts a family from the community and provides them with Christmas gifts and groceries. Teenagers use their own money for this program.

Youth Sunday - Once a year in August, the senior high youth of the church lead the 8:30 and 11:00 worship service. All elements of the service are led by our youth.
